All Spark Electric, Inc

October is here, bringing cooler temperatures, shorter days, and more time spent indoors. As homeowners start turning on heaters, adding outdoor lighting, preparing for the holidays, and tackling fall home improvement projects, it’s a great time to make sure your home’s electrical system is safe and ready for the season.

At All Spark Electric, Inc., our licensed electricians provide residential electrical services throughout Carbon Valley, Firestone, Frederick, Dacono, Erie, Longmont, Mead, the Northern Denver Metro area, and surrounding Northern Colorado communities. From electrical repairs and troubleshooting to panel upgrades, lighting installation, EV charger installation, outlets, switches, dedicated circuits, and whole-house surge protection, we’re here to help keep your home safe and powered.

Fall is a Great Time to Check Your Home's Electrical System

As temperatures drop, your home may start using more electricity. Space heaters, electric baseboard heaters, furnaces, holiday lighting, appliances, and other equipment can put additional demand on your electrical system.
If you have an older home or an outdated electrical panel, fall is a good time to have any electrical concerns checked before winter arrives.
Some signs that you may need an electrical repair or electrical inspection include flickering lights, frequently tripped circuit breakers, warm or discolored outlets, buzzing switches, loose receptacles, burning smells, or circuits that seem overloaded.
Our electricians can help with electrical troubleshooting, circuit breaker replacement, outlet and switch repair, GFCI and AFCI protection, electrical panel repairs, panel replacements, grounding and bonding, dedicated circuits, wiring repairs, and electrical safety upgrades.
Older electrical panels may also be worth evaluating, especially if you’re planning to add new electrical equipment. A 200-amp panel upgrade or electrical service upgrade can provide additional capacity for modern appliances, EV chargers, heating and cooling equipment, remodels, and other electrical improvements.
Taking care of electrical problems early can help prevent a small issue from becoming a much larger repair.

Upgrade Your Lighting Before the Days Get Shorter

October means fewer daylight hours, making fall a perfect time to improve the lighting inside and outside your home.
LED recessed lighting can brighten kitchens, bedrooms, basements, family rooms, hallways, and other living spaces while giving your home a clean, updated appearance. Under-cabinet lighting can add useful task lighting to kitchen countertops, while new ceiling fixtures, dimmers, and switches can make existing spaces more functional.
Don’t forget about your home’s exterior. Outdoor lighting installation can improve visibility around garages, walkways, patios, entrances, and other areas around your property. We can also troubleshoot and replace damaged exterior outlets, GFCI receptacles, switches, fixtures, and electrical wiring.
Planning a remodel this fall? All Spark Electric can assist with electrical wiring for remodels, recessed lighting installation, ceiling fans, new outlets, dedicated circuits, switches, dimmers, electrical panels, and other residential electrical installations.
Whether you need a few new lights or are planning a larger electrical project, a licensed electrician can help make sure the installation is completed safely and correctly.

October Electrical Tips

Test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Fall is a good time to test every detector in your home and replace batteries where needed. If you have older hardwired smoke or CO detectors, consider having them replaced.
Check your outdoor outlets. Exterior receptacles should be properly protected from the weather and have appropriate GFCI protection. Cracked covers, loose outlets, or damaged receptacles should be repaired.
Be careful with space heaters. Plug portable heaters directly into an appropriate wall outlet and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Avoid overloading circuits.
Look at your electrical panel. Breakers that repeatedly trip, signs of overheating, unusual noises, or burning odors should be evaluated by a licensed electrician.
Consider whole-house surge protection. A whole-house surge protector can provide an additional layer of protection for appliances and electronics throughout your home.
Plan ahead for an EV charger. If you own or are considering an electric vehicle, a professionally installed home EV charger or Tesla Wall Connector can make charging at home much more convenient. Your electrical panel and available capacity should be evaluated before installation.
Check exterior lighting before winter. Replace non-working fixtures and consider adding lighting to dark walkways, driveways, entrances, and outdoor living areas before the colder weather arrives.
